Living a DEBT FREE – CLUTTER FREE life is very liberating. It allows us to focus on what really matters most by freeing up money and clearing out the excess in our lives that distract us from out true values and purpose. Clutter distracts us from making room for the things that will truly add value and purpose to our lives. One of the biggest reasons we hold onto stuff is because we aren’t sure when we can get rid of the clutter. It is ok to think that you will one day use it, but the reality is, most people won’t. Decluttering should be easy but for some of us it is not. It simply should be us removing any item that isn’t necessary to have around or any item that isn’t useful but we get attached. We don’t want to get rid of something that was given to us or something that is new and never used or even something that we think we may use one day…we have all been there.
Although I usually like to encourage others to focus on stopping the accumulation cycle rather than just “getting rid of stuff”, it is sometimes necessary to purge and clean up what we have already accumulated in order to get our mind in the right place. SLOW the accumulation before you even think of purging!
It can be hard, but there are some things that you can totally get rid of right now. You have my permission to throw away, donate, recycle, sell or even give it to someone who would want or need it.
